The Department of Commerce is established in the year 1970 and playing a pivotal roll in all the activities of MVS Govt. Arts & Science College. It has got 12 Sanctioned Teaching posts catering the needs of more than 1200 students in Urdu, Telugu and English media   of instructions. It offer’s B.Com and M.Com under both self financed and sponsored programmes.B.Com course offered by the Dept. of Commerce   is very flexible and allows the students either to perceive B.Com with Computer Applications or B.Com with General courses.
The Department of Commerce has evinced its caliber by deploying its staff members to various committees. For instants, the co-ordinaters of NAAC, UGC, PG Programmes, NCC and NSS are from Commerce department. One of its senior faculty members Dr. R. Neelaiah has also been nominated as the co-ordinater for the District Community College by the Govt. Of Andhra Pradesh.
The Department of Commerce always stands at the helm of students support activities not only on the academic merits but also in extending financial support. For instants,                  B. HariKrishna a student of B.Com Computer Applications II year has been continuing his studies with the financial contribution of the faculty members. The staff members of the Department of Commerce have published 10 articles in various National and International journals on the contemporary areas like Micro Finance, Banking, Inflationary Economics and FDI’s.
