History of the Department:
The department of Chemistry was established since the very inception of the college in 1965 with under graduate courses B.Sc.(B.Z.C) and B.Sc.(M.P.C).Another under graduate course with Micro-Biology, Zoology, and Chemistry as main electivies i.e. B.Sc.(M.Z.C) was started during the year 1998. B.Sc.(Bio.Technology) course with Bio-Technology, Botany and Chemistry was started in 2009. B.Sc.(Bio-Chemistry) course with Bio-Chemistry, Zoology and Chemistry started during the year 2002.
Recently during the year 2010 P.G. Course i.e. M.Sc.(Organic Chemistry) was introduced.
At present 07(seven) faculty members are working in the department out of which 02 members has M.Phil. Degree. 04 Members are pursuing Research work. The faculty members are constantly updating themselves a modern method of teaching by attending various refresher courses, seminars and workshops. The department has 08 well furnished laboratories, which are not only used for regular classes but also used to pursue Minor Research Projects by the staff and students. In addition to the above said 08 Labs there is one another Lab fully established with modern equipment for research purpose only. There is a departmental library which has a rare collection of books for reference, useful even for the advanced studies.
The Department provides excellent learning in Chemistry through its dedicated faculty members by means of new teaching and learning methods. It is a matter of pride that some students studied here have been highly placed in society.

Bio-Data Of Teaching Staff:
1. Smt. K. Padmavati
Smt. K. Padmavati studied B.Sc. from MVS Govt.Degree & PG College, Mahabubnagar in the year 1990 and completed M.Sc.(Organic Chemistry) from University College of Science, Osmania University, Hyderabad in the year1992. She has vast teaching experience of 17 years at Junior, Degree and P.G. College level. She is pursuing her Ph.D. from the University College of Science, Osmania University, Hyderabad.
2. A. Shivaleela
A. Shivaleela studied B.Sc., from MVS Govt.Degree & PG College, Mahabubnagar in the year 1983 and completed M.Sc. (Organic Chemistry) from University College of Sceince, Osmania University, Hyderabad in the year 1986. She has 19 years teaching experience at Junior and Degree Colleges.
3. Sri Azeem Ahmed
Sri Azeem Ahmed completed B.Sc. from Giriraj Govt.Degree & PG College, Nizamabad and completed his M.Sc.(In-Organic Chemistry) from A.M.U., Utterpradesh. He has 23 years of teaching experience at Junior and Degree P.G. College level. He is pursuing his Ph.D. from the Rayalaseema University. He made 04 publications related to his topic.
4. Sri G. Satyanarayana Goud
Sri G. Satyanarayana Goud studied B.Sc. from MVS Govt.Degree & PG College, Mahabubnagar in the year1990 and completed M.Sc.(Physical Chemistry) from University College of Science, Osmania University, Hyderabad in the year1992. He completed M.Ed., Osmania University, Hyderabad in the year 1997. He has qualified in CSIR NET in December, 2012. He has vast experience of 21 years at school, Junior, Degree college level. He is pursuing Ph.D. from the Osmania University, Hyderabad.
5. Sri K. Thirupathaiah
Sri K. Thirupathaiah completed B.Sc. from SV Govt.Degree College, Palem, Mahabubnagar District and he passed M.Sc.(Organic Chemistry) from P.G.Centre Saifabad, Osmania University,Hyderabad. He completed his M.Ed., from Bharathidasan University. He also completed M.Phil. from Kakatiya University, Warangal. He is pursuing Ph.D. from the Kakatiya University, Warangal. He has qualified APSET. He made 04 publications related to his topic.
6. Sri N.Markendeya
Sri N. Markendeya studied B.Sc. from Vijetha Degree College, Miryalaguda, Nalgonda district and passed M.Sc.(Analytical Chemistry) from the Pondichery University. He has 10 years teaching experience in degree colleges. He is pursuing Ph.D. in the Osmania University, Hyderabad.
7. Smt. A. Srilatha
Ms. A. Srilatha studied B.Sc. in the year 2007 at Govt.Degree College, Siddipet, Medak District. She passed M.Sc.(Organic Chemistry) from Lalitnarayana University. She has 03 years of experience in degree colleges.
Curricular Aspects:
Our college is affiliated to Palamuru University. The revised syllabus in the subject of Chemistry for all the three years of B.Sc. is framed by State Council of Higher Education, Andhra Pradesh and accepted by Palamuru University. This syllabus is followed from the academic year 2010-2011 for common for all Universities in state which shall be framed by concerned Universities. The in-charge of our department Smt. K. Padmavati nominated in Board of Studies for a period of 02 years in N.G. College, Nalgonda.
To strengthen the curriculum the Palamuru University conducts work-shops when new syllabus or new topics are introduced. Our lecturers attend Refresher Courses in the concerned topics to cope-up the latest knowledge.
Profile of the Students:
As Under Graduate level courses are offered by the department, the students are admitted on the basis of Intermediate marks or any other equivalent examination based on merit and availability of seats. At present, dream of the Intermediate students are going to professional courses, most of the students who take admission into B.Sc. have very poor percentage of marks. Almost half-of the students are compartmentally passed.
Almost all the students are from rural background. They come from nearby villages within a circumference of 30 Kms. from Mahabubnagar town.
Students profile is maintained for all classes to know about their educational social and economical background. The educational back ground of the parents is very poor. 58% of the parents are illiterates, 31% of them completed school education and only 11% of the parents are graduates and post-graduates. Their economical status is also very poor. Annual income of 92% of the parents is less than Rs.50,000/- per annum.
Students social status data reveals that 61% of them belong to BC, 24% belong to SC, 11% belong to ST and only 4% belong to OC.
